The Use of Nursing Diagnoses on the of Case Management for Clients with Mental Health Problems

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to clarify the use of nursing diagnoses on the case management for clients who have mental health problems. The subjects of this study were 19 clients with mental health problems. when the preliminary mental health nurse practitioners visited home to give nursing interventions, nursing diagnoses were used frequently among nineteen cases of nursing management records who were registered at public health center, sanatorium, mental hospital or community mental health center during the period of March 2003 to March 2004. The diagnoses choosen from psychiatric mental nurse practitioner¢¥s records include knowledge deficit, social isolation, ineffective family coping, altered health maintenanse, altered thought processes, low self-esteem, powerlessness, and noncompliance. The diagnoses applied were the nursing intervention protocol developed by Kim, Sunah in 1997. The results were shown the distribution of the nursing diagnoses at the facilities and characteristics according to the socioeconomic variables.
